The Lariani met young patients in both the day hospital unit and the inpatient ward of the Maria Letizia Verga Centre, bringing them small gifts on behalf of the Como 1907 family. The delegation then toured the Fondazione Tettamanti at San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, which, among other initiatives, supports the “Quelli che… con Luca ONLUS” project.

Following the annual meeting with researcher Dr. Sarah Tettamanti, players and staff saw first-hand how research continues to advance year after year, supported in part by Como 1907’s initiatives. This year again, on the occasion of the Como–Genoa match, proceeds from the sale of the club’s 2024/2025 third kit, along with part of the match revenue, were donated to “Quelli che… con Luca ONLUS”. Progress in the fight against pediatric myeloid leukemia continues to accelerate, supported not only by medical teams but also by those who work tirelessly outside the hospital to advance the cause.

Looking ahead to next year, there is strong hope that the first patients will be treated with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia using CAR-T therapy. This therapy was developed at the Fondazione Tettamanti laboratory at San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, thanks to funding from the “Quelli che…con Luca ONLUS” project.

“It was an important experience for me and for the Primavera players this morning. Supporting a place like this is essential, and even bringing a smile is an integral part of contributing to research,” said Jean Butez at the conclusion of the visit.

Como 1907 extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Maria Letizia Verga Centre for the warm welcome and for offering the Biancoblù family a meaningful moment of growth.

A special thanks goes to the Centre’s doctors and researchers, whose daily work stands as a true example of dedication and hope.

To them, and to the entire Maria Letizia Verga community, we send our sincerest wishes for a Merry Christmas.

Natale Con le Palle 2025 – XV Edizione https://comofootball.com/en/natale-con-le-palle-2025-xv-edizione/ Wed, 10 Dec 2025 14:08:44 +0000 https://comofootball.com/?p=188993 Wednesday, December 10, from 6:30 PM in collaboration with Como 1907 and Accademia di Como Aldo Galli

Once again this year returns one of the most anticipated appointments of the Christmas period in Como: Natale con le palle, the charity event conceived in 2009 by the artist Enzo Santambrogio, now in its fifteenth edition. As tradition dictates, the evening will be hosted by Davide De Ascentis and Cesare Roncaglio at their venue, Krudo in Piazza Volta.

To celebrate the milestone of fifteen years, the 2025 edition is enriched by a special collaboration with the sports club Como 1907, the city’s emblematic team, and with the Accademia di Como Aldo Galli, one of the most established and dynamic educational institutions in the area. The meeting of art, sport, and community becomes this year the guiding theme of the initiative.

This synergy will be interpreted by ten young artists in their second and third year of the Painting and Visual Languages course, led by the art critic and course coordinator Ivan Quaroni, who will work alongside the historical protagonists of the initiative. For the first time in the history of the event, all artists have been invited to engage with a common theme chosen by the organising committee: “Como 1907”, a tribute to the Larian team which in recent years has managed to bring back enthusiasm and a sense of belonging to the Como community.

On this matter, Ivan Quaroni underlines: “Seeing our students of Painting and Visual Languages confront a popular and identity-driven theme such as Como 1907 is a fine test of maturity. The students have brought into Natale con le palle what we ask of them every day: imagination, discipline, and the desire to engage with the realities present in the territory. For the Accademia di Como Aldo Galli – IED Network, it is natural to intertwine our educational work with the civic life of Como. Como is not just a team: it is a piece of local iconography, a symbol that everyone recognises instantly. Putting art and football in dialogue may seem bold, but it is often these combinations that generate the freshest ideas. This group of students has demonstrated this with enthusiasm and seriousness, transforming a sporting theme into an exercise of perspective and creativity.”

The established artists invited to participate this year will be Fabrizio Bellanca, Filippo Borella, Elena Borghi, Marco Brenna, Lorenzo Butti, Lorenza Ceruti, Francesco Corbetta, Andrea Greco, Marlo Montoya, Fabrizio Musa, Gemma Pettinaroli, Enzo Santambrogio, Vania Elettra Tam, together with the young artists Aria Pontinelli, Elisa Martinelli, Elena Varisco, Sofia Vinci, Elettra Gobbi, Alessia Pedersini, Alice Barcella, Nicole Montagnoli, Jaki Vavassori and Giuseppe Picardi.

As tradition dictates, each established artist will donate ten works in the size 10 × 15 cm, while the students of the Academy will produce one work each. The 140 works will be framed by CB Cornici, technical sponsor of the event.

During the evening, it will be possible to purchase a token worth €40 to try one’s luck at the famous ball-dispensing machine, a simple and fun gesture that combines play, art, and charity. All proceeds will be donated to the InfraMente association, which is engaged in combating violence.

The appointment is for Wednesday, 10 December at 6:30 pm at Bar Krudo, Piazza Volta – Como: an opportunity to celebrate together art, solidarity, and the city of Como, commemorating a collaboration that puts creativity, sport, and social commitment into dialogue.

Como 1907 Strengthens Its Social Commitment by Supporting Our Furry Friends as Well https://comofootball.com/en/como-1907-strengthens-its-social-commitment-by-supporting-our-furry-friends-as-well/ Tue, 09 Dec 2025 17:59:05 +0000 https://comofootball.com/?p=188839 This year, the Club will stand alongside Parco Canile Valbasca, a key facility for the reception and care of abandoned dogs in the Como area, managed by the Como Section of E.N.P.A. – the National Animal Protection Authority.

Como 1907’s support for the Valbasca Canine Park stems directly from the participation of its fans. All proceeds from the sale of products in the Pet Collection, the Club’s dedicated line for dogs, will be entirely donated to the shelter, providing concrete contributions to ensure care, housing, and well-being for the animals hosted there.

The Club supports this initiative because it strongly believes in responsible adoption, volunteering, and education in animal respect, principles that align with the social mission of Fondazione Como ETS, which aims to involve the community in meaningful support actions. Through this collaboration, fans and citizens are encouraged to reflect on the importance of caring for animals, choosing responsible adoption, and recognizing the value of volunteer work.

These guiding principles also define the work of Parco Canile Valbasca, which accommodates up to 100 dogs within a facility spanning over half a hectare. The structure includes kennels equipped with sheltered night areas and open-air daytime spaces, large exercise zones, shared play areas, and dedicated green parks. It is not merely a shelter: it is an educational center that promotes knowledge and respect for animals, raising awareness about responsible and mindful coexistence between people and dogs.

Each year, the facility welcomes dogs from more than 80 municipalities in the province of Como, providing veterinary care, sterilization, and psychological support, all the way through to the search for a new family. Thanks to the commitment of volunteers and the support of ENPA, every dog lives in a safe and comfortable environment, while the values of solidarity, care, and animal protection are shared with the entire community.

As an ENPA facility, the Valbasca Canine Park fully embraces the association’s mission: ensuring animal welfare, protecting them from mistreatment, promoting adoption, and supporting their medical and psychological recovery. In addition, through its volunteer Animal Protection Officers, ENPA collaborates with Public Security authorities to monitor cases of abuse and to combat illegal activities involving animals, offering further protection to the dogs housed in the shelter.

With this collaboration, Como 1907 reaffirms its commitment to supporting essential local organizations, ensuring that the Club’s values of solidarity, community and social responsibility extend beyond the pitch, reaching those who have no voice: our beloved dogs.

Un Natale Speciale 2025: Como 1907 Meets Young Patients at the Sant’Anna Hospital https://comofootball.com/en/un-natale-speciale-2025-como-1907-meets-young-patients-at-the-santanna-hospital/ Fri, 05 Dec 2025 18:31:57 +0000 https://comofootball.com/un-natale-speciale-2025-como-1907-incontra-i-piccoli-pazienti-dellospedale-santanna/ Como 1907 returned this year to visit the Pediatrics Department of Sant’Anna Hospital in San Fermo della Battaglia (CO). This initiative renews an important annual tradition for the Club, which is committed to bringing comfort and a sense of closeness to young patients and their families during the Christmas season.

This year, midfielder Maxence Caqueret and goalkeeper Mauro Vigorito visited the children in the ward, bringing smiles and a moment of light-heartedness, accompanied by a blue-jersey teddy bear in Como colors.

The teddy bear is a special gift created as part of the “A Special Christmas” project, made possible thanks to donations from employees of Como 1907 and SENT. Now in its second edition, the initiative is an example of social and corporate responsibility, highlighting the Club’s commitment to supporting the local community. Throughout December, the teddy bears adopted by employees and destined for young patients will be distributed at Sant’Anna Hospital and Sant’Antonio Abate Hospital in Cantù.

The first team will instead contribute through donations aimed at purchasing medical equipment or devices to meet the specific needs identified by healthcare professionals. Last year, with the support of the players and staff, the department received seven “Tytocare” devices (https://comofootball.com/en/raphael-varane-visits-santanna-hospital/).

Dr. Angelo Selicorni, head of the department, expressed his gratitude to Como 1907: “On behalf of the entire ASST Lariana community, I would like to thank the employees of Como 1907 and SENT for the thoughtful gift dedicated to our young patients. The presence of Mauro Vigorito and Maxence Caqueret, together with their great empathy, brought smiles and moments of genuine lightness to our ward. Gestures like yours remind us of the precious bond that unites sport, community, and solidarity.”

The players’ visit was followed by another meaningful moment. Liam, a border collie from the Valbasca Shelter, the local branch of E.N.P.A., visited the children and delighted them with a brief Pet Therapy session organized in collaboration with hospital staff. The initiative had a dual purpose: marking the beginning of future collaborations with the Valbasca Shelter and promoting the Club’s commitment to raising awareness about volunteering and responsible adoption.

Como 1907 thanks ASST Lariana for its support in this project and for renewing the collaboration year after year.

ROOTS: One Club, Two Homelands, Thousands of Trees https://comofootball.com/en/roots-one-club-two-homelands-thousands-of-trees/ Wed, 03 Dec 2025 12:53:07 +0000 https://comofootball.com/un-club-le-sue-radici-migliaia-di-alberi/ Como 1907’s ROOTS project links match‑day emissions in Italy to community‑led reforestation in Central Java, turning supporters’ travel into trees with a future.

The Patiayam Hills, forming the eastern side of the Mt. Muria mountains stretch across 2,900 hectares within the Kudus and Pati Regencies of Central Java. Rising 350 meters above sea level, the area is largely dominated by annual crops and has long faced environmental challenges due to soil degradation and limited vegetation.

Reforestation efforts here are essential to restore ecological balance, improve soil and air quality, and bring renewed hope for local communities to thrive in harmony with nature.

Since 2018, local farmers have been granted rights to manage around 1,900 hectares of land under the Social Forestry Forest Utilization Permit (IPHPS) scheme, a government program by Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry that provides communities with legal access to manage forest areas. Two local Forest Farmers Groups were entrusted with these rights for 35 years, subject to review every five years. While monoculture farming had previously exhausted the soil, this initiative has opened the path to a more sustainable model.

In collaboration with these farmers, the Djarum Foundation has played a vital role in restoring the Patiayam Hills. Through a community-based approach, more than 100,000 seedlings have already been planted, engaging over 2,500 local farmers. The selected trees are chosen not only for their ecological impact but also for their economic value, offering future harvests and supporting local livelihoods. This inclusive process ensures that the reforestation effort regenerates both the land and the community that depends on it.

For Como 1907, this project carries a profound and deeply personal meaning,  one that lives within the concept of ROOTS.

ROOTS speaks to the many layers of connection that define us: the roots of a family whose origins lie near Patiayam, in Kudus, the smallest regency in Central Java, nestled between Semarang and Surabaya, along the northern coast of the Java Sea; the roots of a club deeply tied to its community and supporters in Como; and the roots of the trees that will help restore balance to the planet by offsetting the CO₂ emissions produced by fans traveling to the stadium.

We estimated the environmental impact of Como 1907 fans traveling to home matches. Based on the average distance traveled and the most commonly used modes of transport,50% by car, 30% by public transport, 15% by scooter, and 5% on foot, the average impact per spectator is around 2.4 kg of CO₂ equivalent per match.

In total, with 12,000 fans attending the stadium, this amounts to approximately 28 tons of CO₂ emitted per game.

Como 1907 is proud to support this initiative by planting two trees for every season ticket holder for the 2025/26 campaign, contributing to a total of 13,000 new trees across the Patiayam Hills. A portion of the proceeds from season ticket sales will go directly to this reforestation effort.

This initiative forms part of Como 1907’s long-term environmental strategy, which integrates sustainability into the club’s broader vision for growth and responsibility. The ROOTS project represents a tangible step in the club’s commitment to mitigating environmental impact, promoting biodiversity, and supporting global carbon offsetting efforts. By investing in projects that generate long-term ecological and social value, Como 1907 aims to build a legacy that benefits both people and the planet, ensuring a more sustainable future for the generations to come.

For the club’s ownership, this is more than an act of environmental responsibility, it is a personal mission to give back to a land that holds deep cultural and emotional significance.Just as a tree draws strength from its roots, this initiative reflects gratitude, respect, and continuity, values that define Como 1907’s spirit of perseverance, humility, and togetherness. Through this collective dedication, each supporter contributes to a living legacy that spans continents, bringing together people, nature, and purpose, all united to root for the same team.

Support That Educates: The Respect&Play Project Brings Sporting Values to Young People https://comofootball.com/en/support-that-educates-the-respectplay-project-brings-sporting-values-to-young-people/ Fri, 14 Nov 2025 14:55:25 +0000 https://comofootball.com/?p=180581 In Como, sports education is not limited to the stadium: it reaches schools, neighborhoods and the daily lives of young people. This is the spirit of Respect&Play, the project that, also this season, brings the values of sport into classrooms across the territory, transforming fandom into a journey of growth.

“Through sport, we can teach young people the values of respect, inclusion and positive support, while conveying the principles of teamwork and fair play” says Paolo Novati, co-founder of Respect&Play. The initiative, promoted by Como 1907 together with Teste di Serie and Polisport SSD, aims to train a new generation of conscious and responsible fans.

After the pilot project launched in 2024, the new edition has reached even more schools and students. The program targets children and teenagers from elementary to high school, adapting content and methods to each age group.

The first part of the program takes place in the classroom, where students explore topics such as respect, positive fandom, and fair play. Here, supporting a team is understood as a conscious act, capable of uniting rather than dividing. “We want children to see sport as a moment of joy, emotion and growth, not a battlefield, but a space for respect and collaboration” continues Paolo, explaining how, through stories of exemplary athletes and historical figures, students are encouraged to reflect, discuss and share personal experiences.

“When we talk about values, we encourage students to share what they experience every day, both positive and negative momentS, so they can learn to recognize and manage their emotions” adds Paolo, emphasizing how this process transforms sport into a daily practice of respect for oneself, others and the wider community.

The most impactful part of the project comes through practical activities: through sports and games, students put what they have learned into action, turning principles into habits.

To fully experience these lessons, students are then invited to Stadio Sinigaglia, where they watch a Como 1907 Serie A match, observing the field and the stands with fresh eyes and applying the lessons learned in class.  The stadium thus becomes an open-air classroom, where children discover the importance of rules, supporting their team, and respecting opponents. The phrase “Disrespect out, fair play in” displayed on a banner the students proudly wave, symbolizes their commitment as Respect&Play kids.

The project also offers opportunities to meet athletes who experience competition firsthand. At the conclusion of last season, Alessio Iovine, former captain of Como 1907, shared his experience with the students: “Education is fundamental. The context you come from, your parents, and the people around you are key elements in your path. Respect for others is essential in every aspect of life, both on and off the field.”

Teachers have already noticed tangible changes in students’ behavior: better emotional management, increased respect among peers, and more harmonious relationships. The impact is further confirmed by the involvement of families and the support of Fondazione Como ETS, which considers schools a cornerstone of its social mission. Today’s children will be tomorrow’s fans, players, and citizens. Investing in their education means shaping conscious, respectful individuals while promoting their mental and physical well-being.

A Journey Toward Inclusion, Auser and Como 1907 United for the City https://comofootball.com/en/a-journey-toward-inclusion-auser-and-como-1907-united-for-the-city/ Thu, 06 Nov 2025 15:11:32 +0000 https://comofootball.com/un-viaggio-verso-linclusione-auser-e-como-1907-insieme-per-lacitta/ On a quiet morning in Como, ten white vans depart from a small depot overlooking the lake. They belong to Auser Basso Lario, a volunteer association that has become one of the city’s most valuable lifelines. The drivers aren’t delivering packages or paying passengers—they transport elderly people and individuals with disabilities to medical appointments, grocery stores, or, thanks to a new collaboration with Como 1907, to the stadium to watch a match.

Auser is part of a national network dedicated to social inclusion and civic solidarity. Its goal is simple: to keep people connected to everyday life, even when age or disability might otherwise isolate them. In the Como area alone, volunteers complete over 130 trips per week. Small journeys, but with profound meaning. Drivers know every face, every name. They stop to exchange a few words, restoring a sense of normalcy and everyday life.

The partnership with Como 1907 began in early 2025, when Auser was looking to expand its fleet. Through the benefit company PMG, the club decided to sponsor a new nine-seat Ford Transit, equipped to accommodate up to two wheelchairs. This practical gesture quickly grew into something larger: a collaboration that brought together two different worlds, united by the same sense of responsibility toward the city.

Given the lack of disabled parking near the stadium, the club stepped in to help remove architectural barriers and make access easier. The solution designed by Como represents a concrete step toward a more inclusive sporting environment, offering people with disabilities new opportunities to enjoy events without obstacles. The first result of this partnership was the Inclusivity Bus, developed in collaboration with Italian Pack and PMG.

The idea is as simple as it is powerful: to allow fans with disabilities to finally attend home games at the Sinigaglia Stadium, traveling comfortably and safely. Auser provides the volunteers; the club takes care of the matchday experience and the creation of dedicated spaces. The service launched in May, during the Como vs. Cagliari game, and is now available for every home match, both in league and cup competitions.

The Inclusivity Bus is a reminder that football can do much more than entertain: it can unite a community. Both organizations share the same vision for their territory. They see Como not merely as an area of action, but as a shared responsibility to care for.

From this foundation, new collaborations were easy to imagine. This season, two initiatives will take shape: a volunteer recruitment campaign to strengthen Auser’s ranks, and full support for the “Ti chiamo” project, a telephone line designed to combat loneliness among the elderly.

The principle behind “Ti chiamo” is simple: volunteers, many of them elderly themselves, make regular calls to those living in isolation, offering words of comfort or simple companionship to those who, over time, have drifted away from everyday social interactions.

Auser’s message to fans is clear and direct: volunteering matters. It addresses needs that would otherwise go unmet and builds a more open, humane community. Just a few hours a week can make a difference—driving a van, answering the phone, helping in the office.

In other words, the story of Auser and Como 1907 is not about charity—it’s about connection. It shows what happens when civic spirit meets sporting passion. Together, they have transformed a van into a symbol of inclusion and a stadium into a gathering place where everyone has a seat.

Volunteers enjoy the satisfaction of feeling useful, giving their time to those in need, and being part of a cause that makes life a little easier for many. If you want to do your part, here’s how to contact them:

Piccoli Razionalisti: A Lesson from Como https://comofootball.com/en/piccoli-razionalisti-a-lesson-from-como/ Wed, 01 Oct 2025 13:16:06 +0000 https://comofootball.com/?p=174297 In Como design is not only for galleries or grand villas. It is part of the city itself and part of its everyday life. Nowhere shows this more clearly than Piccoli Razionalisti, the project that each autumn brings children into the world of Rationalist architecture.

The setting is Giuseppe Terragni’s Asilo Sant’Elia built in the 1930s as a school designed around light space and wellbeing. It is one of Rationalism’s purest expressions yet it was always intended for children. During Como Design Festival the building returns to that role. School groups fill its halls with drawings and voices while visitors walk through guided tours and video installations that reveal the ideals behind its form.

What makes this uniquely Como is the way heritage and community are tied together. Rationalist architecture is often described as abstract or austere. Here it is lived. Children sketch symbols inspired by the Casa del Fascio or the geometry of a piazza. They make postcards to send home as keepsakes of discovery. In doing so they turn monuments of modernism into part of daily memory.

The project is growing. Città Razionalista will widen the map to include more schools, more buildings and more citizens. It is not about presenting Rationalism as history but as something present in streets, courtyards and classrooms. Como’s Rationalist landmarks are not museum pieces. They are part of the civic fabric and the people who inhabit them give them meaning.

For a visitor this is a chance to see the city differently. A walk through the Sant’Elia or along Viale Sinigaglia becomes a reminder that architecture here was built to serve and to inspire. You do not need specialist knowledge to feel its purpose. You only need to step inside spaces designed with clarity and human scale.

Piccoli Razionalisti matters because it could only belong to Como. Few cities carry such a concentration of Rationalist masterpieces and fewer still integrate them so directly into public life. Each autumn this project shows that design is not detached from community but shaped by it. In Como the youngest citizens are given the tools to see architecture not as background but as part of who they are.

Como 1907 Renews Its Commitment to Quelli che con Luca ONLUS https://comofootball.com/en/como-1907-renews-its-commitment-to-quelli-che-con-luca-onlus/ Tue, 16 Sep 2025 14:24:34 +0000 https://comofootball.com/como-1907-rinnova-il-suo-impegno-con-quelli-che-con-luca-onlus/ At the beginning of yesterday’s match between Como and Genoa, a special ceremony was held to reaffirm Como 1907’s continued partnership with Quelli che con Luca ONLUS.

Cesc Fàbregas, head coach of the Lariani, presented a commemorative plaque to Andrea Ciccioni, president of the association dedicated to supporting research into childhood leukaemia. The plaque highlights the donation by the club to the ONLUS, enforcing the strength of the bond between the two organisations.

The donation was made possible through: 100% of the profits from last season’s third kit, and 10% of the proceeds from yesterday’s match.

Andrea Ciccioni, President of Quelli che con Luca ONLUS, commented:

“It was an incredibly emotional moment. Knowing that Como 1907 supports us is a huge source of motivation for everyone at ‘Quelli che con LUCA ONLUS’, especially because of the way they do it.

Feeling that this club is part of our family gives us strength every day. Seeing so many third kits at the stadium, with Luca’s smile on display, creates a powerful and lasting bond, one that goes far beyond the borders of Como.

The shirt dedicated to our cause is now in demand across Italy, the message has truly touched people’s hearts.

Meeting Mister Fàbregas, even briefly, is always inspiring, he always finds the right words.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at Fondazione Como ETS, the Communications and Ticketing departments, and to President Mirwan. The funds raised will be invested in our 2025 Scientific Research Project focused on childhood leukaemia.

This is a battle that we will win, together, united!”

Como 1907 proudly continues its commitment alongside Quelli che con Luca ONLUS, and together with its fans, remains dedicated to supporting research in the fight against this devastating disease.

Fear Nothing. Fight for Everything.
